Young Leaders of Tomorrow
Young Leaders of Tomorrow (YLT) is a youth development program that focuses on higher education, vocational training, character development, and civics. Program membership will be extended to male students from ALL BACKGROUNDS in grades 9th-12th. Students must remain in good academic standing to remain in the program.
Program Overview
Our mission is to raise academic standards, build character, and expose students to various career options/fields resulting in them being more prepared in life thus allowing them an opportunity to become productive men in the community.
9th Grade
The mentorship program focuses on developing a strong academic and extracurricular base. Majority of the time is spent teaching the philosophies/habits behind how to approach high school successfully. Mentors will help students develop their interests, which eventually serve as the "hook" for their applications many years later.
10th Grade
The mentorship program guides students down the path to successfully execute on a strong junior year (known as the most important year for college admissions). Extra focus is spent on choosing the right classes, developing sound academic habits which will also serve as the foundation required for the journey into their junior year and beyond!
11th Grade
The mentorship program focus is on preparing students for the incoming application process. Alpha Phi Alpha personnel will help students create their college interest lists, keep track of deadlines, and secure recommendation letters. Students who complete the junior year mentorship program will be exceptionally prepared for the admissions process, having designed an application strategy and executed on achieving key milestones.
12th Grade
It is at this point that the IMAGES will graduate into our YLT program. The program will begin to provide more focus on teaching students important skills sets for being successful college students entering the workforce, and/or Armed Forces.
